If you don't have the feeder tubes then you have a later head. These heads rely on oil feed from under the cam bearings travelling through the black hollow cam bearing bolts. You could have a head that's air locked...you can bleed the lubrication system to the cam bearings by loosening the last black cam bearing bolt on the intake cam...nearest the front of the car. Loosen and run the engine to expel any air bubbles as described in Bentley Manual. Oh...and you DO have the black bolts on the correct side of the camshafts yes?
