Hi, thanks for the advice wrt/ fans. Only one fan comes on, which I think is normal for this car, I think I am going to wire the second fan up so it comes on too. Just checked and the air is moving in the right direction (through the radiator toward the engine).
I have not taken the car out on the highway yet as I don't want to load down the engine until I get the cooling problem at idle figured out.. within 5 minutes the meter goes almost all the way as if thermostat has not kicked in.
From the replies to my post here, I am strongly suspecting a problem w/ the radiator or water pump. First though, this evening, I'm going to try and gut out the thermostat so that coolant always flows just to elminate the thermostat as a possibility and see if it helps.. I was reading that people have had new thermostats that are bad from the factory.
