Shifter alignment adjustment... Posted by Chadwick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: gear shift - put together & now won't go into 4,5th, Christian, Mon, 12 Sep 2005 15:44:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
on the coupler where the tranny and shifter come together there's a 13mm bolt on the top of it. It's almost impossible to see, i think the steering rack is in the way. You can get to it with a universal joint from underneath the car, but i found it A LOT easier to take off the drivers side tire and look through the wheel well, then make en extension that was about 2.5 feet long or so to reach the bolt. Loosen the bolt then move the shifter inside the car slightly to the left, then tighten the bolt back up. Don't push the shifter forward or backwards while the bolt is loose because the shifter will come out of the tranny and you'll have to get it to go back in, which can sometimes be a PITA with only one person. You should be able to align the shifter this way, and if this isn't what is wrong then I don't know what's going on.
Best of Luck!
Chadwick
