The opening where the fuel pump goes is the biggie that I can think of. The older ones use a rubber boot, hose clamps, & the top of the pump is exposed. That's up thru '88 NA & a year or 2 further for turbo.
The newer ones use a plastic canister around the pump, with a big ring retainer screwed around the top. Beginning in '89 non-turbo, beginning in when? (90?) for turbos.
You'll be able to see the difference by opening the access panel disk above the fuel pump.
