...vacuum lines aren't the only possible culprits. You could have an intake air leak in any of the various (and necessary) connections anywhere in the ducting between the AMM and the intake manifold (including the turbocharger, intercooler and throttle body), the intake manifold gasket, the fuel injector O-rings, or maybe other places that I'm not thinking of, that you can't eliminate by plugging. Jim's leak (the bypass duct between the turbo bypass valve and the throttle body) isn't a 'vacuum' line, and you probably wouldn't plug it in your test.
You could disconnect and/or plug the various vacuum/breather lines to the brake booster, distributor, fuel pressure regulator, turbo bypass valve (the small control line), the PCV system, the vacuum reservoir, the ELCD, the turbo gauge (and pressure transducer and over-pressure switch), but you'd have to do them one at a time to know which was the problem. Disconnecting the fuel pressure regulator, by the way, will increase your fuel rail pressure, enriching the mixture a little, which may fool you.
I think the best approach involves a strategic combination of testing and inspection, including the carb cleaner/WD-40 inspection method. There really is a lot of places you can leak air on these cars -- you just have to hunt 'em down. As I said in another post, I'm *still* trying to find a leak on my car. I've eliminated all of the intake ducting and vacuum lines, but still have a problem. I either have an internal leak in the brake booster, a leak somewhere in the PCV system (both of which I can check by disconnecting, as you suggest), or a bad intake manifold gasket, throttle body gasket, or fuel injector O-ring (all of which I can test with solvent), or some other place I haven't thought of yet!
