My knowledge of the innards of Saab trannies is limited to what I recollect from my old ('72) 99, so doesn't apply directly. And neither Haynes nor Bentley shows tranny parts in enough detail. Haynes is best, pics on Pages 118 and 125 (my edition).
The unspecific Bentley book does offer a ray of hope in its troubleshooting section. Under "fails to engage or jumps out of gear," first choice is "worn shift linkage or loose shift console."
Possibly, Petey, you might have caused the whole shifter to move some, and tightening the 3-wing nuts that hold it down to the body and checking the shifter mechanism alignment per Townsendimports website instructions might cure it.
MS, your advice and info are some of the best on this site but I thought this one sounded like a drastic cure.
