OK...I need everyone's help on this one. I'm not going to mention mechanics names for lack of respect because I do respect both mechanics that I will mention. I have two Saab techs that I use. One is closer but the other one is usually pretty good. I took my baby to one tech and he visually inspected my car. I brought it in for a good once over and he noticed that the coolant level was low. The car had been running a little hot on the freeway only. He looked down by the exhaust manifold where the turbo tubes are and pointed out to me that their was some white phosphorus looking stuff on the tubes. He said looks like you need a new headgasket. Bummer Dude!!! Took it to the other tech that I used told him about the findings of the other mechanic. Both have always been extremely honest and fair with me on all my saabs so have no reason not to trust either one. The second tech suggested testing for exhaust in the coolant reservoir and used the probe on the car. Came back negative. I do know the cap leaks a little and he recommended replacing it. Had him flush the system and still have the same symptoms. Only runs hot on freeway speeds when temperature is a little hotter than 85 or so. During city driving the temperature is fine. Called the second tech that used probe on car and he said probably the raidiator needs replacing because it cannot process enough coolant at highway speeds. I don't want to ruin my engine because it runs really strong and does not use any oil. Could someone please help with any adise. I've been coming to this site for years and know that their are some really Great techs on this site. Look forwarding to hearing from you all. Love my SAAB!!!!!!! I also have a 9000 which I love but I think I have a sweet spot for my little sweedish volkswagen.
