...it includes a felt hockey puck like polishing wheel and a small quantity of powdered abrasive, cerium oxide, that is a rare earth related to yttrium and a bunch of other substances with weird names.
I have tried it with some success on sand-pitted windshields, but it barely works as it would have to remove so much glass to make a difference, and so I concentrated in the area right ahead of my eyes and it helped.
On wiper scratches I think it would probably work fairly well. You need to mask off the rest of the car as it sprays around and is hard to wash off; keep the glass moist, with a spray bottle; and keep everything scrupulously clean, as you don't want to pick up any pieces of sand in the felt wheel and scratch things up worse.
Also don't spin it too fast - - it works better spinning fast but at router-type speeds, it got out of balance, and inside of a couple of seconds the wheel bent the 1/4" shank over about 90 degrees, the puck came off and I watched it disappear over the roof of a three-story building across the street, about 250 feet away.
Actually I think auto glass shops do polish wiper scratches out and your best bet might be to ask around for a quote. Then again if your windshield has other issues, such as the sand-blasting pits I mentioned, maybe your best bet is get a new one. Auto glass shops are very competitive, eating each other up. The joy of looking at the road through brand new glass is hard to equal.
