This is how the system works.
The ABS and brake boost use hydraulic pressure stored in the accumulator - the black sphere sitting on top of the master cylinder. If the pressure is low in the accumulator, you get BOTH the ABS and Brake Fluid lights on. As the ABS pump runs and pressurizes the system, once the pressure gets above a minimum value, the Brake Fluid light goes out; a second or two later the ABS finishes running a self test, and it goes out.
When the car is off, the pressure leaks down. Fluid goes from the accumulator back into the reservoir (clear plastic container). That's normal. The longer the car sits, the more the pressure leaks down. So when you start the car, if it's been sitting a while, it takes a while for the ABS pump to pressurize the system - so the lights stay on longer, the longer the car has been off.
The systems tend to get to pressure sooner when the car is young, like many of us, as they age, it takes longer to get to pressure. As long as the lights go off, and stay off while driving and using the brakes, you're fine.
