I did some thinking about what you helpfull people wrote and came up with this : The parts of the O2 sensor that generate and transmit the signal for the ECU seem to convert oxegen's chemical reaction with the tip of the sensor into an electronic signal to be sent to the ECU . Why would the parts that carry electronic signal be damaged by sending a small signal from a DVM through them if the normal signal intended for the ECU does not damage them ? Secondly , would the accidental DVM ohm signal go through the parts responsible for the chemical reaction and its tranfer into an electronic signal ? If so could this do damage to these parts ? If I cannot determine if damage occurred with answers to these questions , would the correct swinging signal on a technician's lab/oscilloscope prove without a dought , that the sensor has not sustained any damage ? Can I find an affordable device that will accurately show the fluxing signal ? Again , thank you in advance for your help .
