than damaging the sensor. The price of the sensor is trivial compared to the ECU.
What's the voltage used by a typical multitester for measuring resistance? 9 volts or something like that, probably.
The O2 sensor voltage range that the ECU measures is 0-1 volt. So it's possible to damage the O2 sensor input to the ECU with an over-voltage. This is just like the warning to not plug an ends-in-005 AMM into an LH 2.4 car.
