I think the synthetic motor oil you're using might be too slippery for the synchros. Try the Honda stuff and see how it goes. If you don't like that, maybe try the Redline stuff. If still no joy, you're likely looking at synchro issues and a rebuild. Or just match revs when dropping into 2nd - you can go forever this way. Last version of the 900 transmission shifts good but has the worst synchros by the way...
