Sorry, I have to vent. Leaving work Monday, the 1990 SPG decides it wants to break down. Ok, so it has 210k, it deserves to once in a while. But in downtown Hartford when its getting dark? Not good. Especially when the commute is 60 miles long. Starts fine, but idles like crap, if you step on the gas, it seems to flood and stalls. After an hour of tearing it apart (pulling out plugs, cap & rotor, all vaccum lines), right on the city street, I was attracting a crowd, and not a good one. After a $75 tow two miles away, and an $85 diagnostic from a service center the next day, it appears to be the AMM. So I return Wednesday with an AMM, runs great, and it gets me back to the parking garage at work. Now I have the Viggen and the SPG at work (60 miles from home). I bummed a ride to Hartford this morning, to get the SPG home. But of course, after the $175 spent already, I get in it tonight to come home, and it has the same problem. This time I didn't leave the parking garage, and put another 2 hours in. Check engine light is on, stalls when you step on gas, runs like it is on 3 cylinders. Front seat out, carpet up, ECU out and inspected. Fuel lines and rails, injectors out, you name it. Finally, I disconnected the oxygen sensor, and it runs better than ever. What a cruel car. Now I have to spend all weekend putting it back together. At least I didn't end up paying $350 for a new AMM like they wanted to do at the service center.
