LOOKS like a banjo. Hose or steel line comes in from the side, joins a hollow ring. (Thus the banjo.) Then there's a fat, flat=headed hollow bolt that goes through the banjo, not only drilled out up its center but with a hole drilled across through it to let fluid pass. That bolts into a fluid-carrying hole in some part of the car - - fuel rail, brake caliper, or, as in recent discussion, the block. It's got gaskets, usually in the form of soft copper washers, between the head of the bolt and the banjo ring, and between the banjo ring and the block.
Sometimes the washers have a ring of rubber in them. Sometimes they're just soft annealed copper, which works just fine. By the way, many people re-use the plain copper washers. There's a little chance they won't seal perfectly on re-use, though, as they will have work-hardened some. If you have to reuse them and trust yourself not to overheat them you can make them soft as new by heating with a propane torch and quenching them in water. Unlike steel, which hardens on quenching, copper turns soft.
They sell these things now at auto parts stores so you can avoid the above science experiment.
