Never leak acid, which can be a cable killer and is a worse curse than a weak battery. Last years and years. Only problem is 900s have a restricted space and Sears will only sell a battery that officially fits the Saab holder. You CAN shoehorn larger sizes in.
I'm a decided un-fan of WalMart. Cheap junk is my general impression, coupled with poor selection, unreliable availability of what you remember they had, and prices that aren't really that good, compared to other usually closer alternatives.
On their batteries, I have no specific experience though.
Consumer Reports I find questionable. Years ago during the Bicycle Boom, rating "best" bicycles, they found for Rolfast, junky discount store welded imports, over real quality European machines. On what basis? Their criteria was to test HOW LONG THE WHEELS ROLLED TILL STOPPING, with bikes off the ground on racks. An absurd test that measures rolling friction of the axle bearings, something that is NEVER so high as to be any factor at all in how a bike rides, or anything else about it. It was a totally arbitrary deciding factor. And Rolfast could have been pre-tipped that that would be part of the test, and set its bearings with very little pre-load and lubed with very light grease or oil.
In general, for a new bike, bearings that are set just a little snug wouldn't be unusual and might even be preferred, to avoid being too loose once a little wear occurred. So the other poor saps competing were blindsided. I think there was a crook or crooks inside Consumer Reports, taking money to favor Rolfast, and I have forever since totally mistrusted them.
Rolfasts were clunky crap, frames made of old iron pipe metal, chrome plating so thin they'd rust after a heavy dew, single piece cranks, KICKSTANDS, crappy vinyl seats, and the cheapest import components.
