Wow. My pride and joy, not for its long faded beauty or greatness really but for its old-fashioned charm and real antiquity (I guess around 1950) is my Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix Reg Harris Road Model, with Reynolds 531 frame tubes. I've got it set up for comfortable street riding, with a broad Brooks saddle, near-straight alloy bars, and a Sturmey-Archer 5-speed internal hub, in an alloy hub shell harvested from some 1950's girl's bike I found on my old college campus, with Weinmann 27x1 1/4" alloy clincher rims, stainless spokes, lightweight high pressure tires, Weinmann 730 sidepull brakes, a Stronglight crankset and really light Lyotard alloy pedals, and Bluemels aluminum fenders. Oh, plus a single paperboy's deep rear side basket custom adapted to go on front.
It looks a lot like more modern trends in bicycles but I don't want to say how long ago I built it.
It's fast and light but I have hauled a big car battery, and another time a Volvo transmission, in (half out of) that front basket.
