stalls when breaking heavily

Very happy with my '94 turbo convertible, and all aspects of driving it are so far great with just 90k on the clock.
However, I've noticed that the car will stall under really heavy breaking - a few weeks ago, someone cut me off and while slamming on the brakes it stalled; a couple of days ago I mis-judged a red light and had it stall again, however not until the ABS had brought me to a very nicely controlled stop in the rain.
I know there are probably a hundred things that could make this happen, but does anyone know if this is a particular trait in Saabs that I could track down quickly before it gets too cold to fix? (no garage here in NYC!)
