allright, let me further describe. when the cylinder broke, the key pulled what i would call the internal cylinder of the lock out. when that piece came out with the key i found myself holding the key tumblers. looking down into the empty hole left behind i could see a slot which i now turn with a screwdriver to start the car. what i'm trying to remove is the outer cylinder. i have sprayed the heck out of it with degunker and still can't get it to come out. there is the tiniest bit of play in it, but attempts to pull it out with pliers resulted only in pulling out chunks of the outer cylinder. i have tried rotating key (screwdriver) position in an attempt to find a slide out point wiht no luck. one mechanic says he'll have to pull the whole shifter assembly. my unofficial mechanic told me he would take hammer and chisel to the pewter outer cylinder.
any suggestions?
