I just want to begin by saying that I have been using eEuroparts for the past 5 years and this is my first problem with them. Their shipping has always been lightning fast and their products have always been top notch.
My dilema began when I decided to do a full front brake job on my 1986 Saab SPG. I decided to replace both rotors, calipers, brake lines, brake pads and brake master cylinder. I ordered the rotors and calipers from Saabsite due to the reconmendations from this board and the rest of the items were ordered from eEuroparts. This was my first totatl break job so I took my time and really learned to utilize my propane torch and impact driver to loosen all of the rusted nuts and bolts. Everything was going great.....I was taking my time to make sure I was doing everything by the book. I was using my Bently manual and I also have a complete set of "factory" manuals so I was well aware of the vented front rotor and front emergency break set-up found on 1985,1986 and 1987 900 Turbos. My nightmare began when it came time to put the break pads in that I got from e-Europarts. I first made sure that the piston was seated all the way back into its housing and with a newly rebuilt caliper and new brake lines with no fluid in them yet this was a relatively easy task since no pressure was in the lines. I intitially tried to place the Mintex pads in their slots and they just were not fitting.....they seemed to be to thick. I check and rechecked everything looking for the reason why they were not fitting and I could not find any. I then decided to call eEuroparts to make sure that they sent me the right pads...the customer service rep. assured me that they sent me the correct front pads made specifically for a 1986 "vented" rotor Saab 900 SPG Turbo. I then went ahead and tried to refit them.....They were so snug and since I was reassured by the rep. I decided to tap them in with a hammer. I finally got them in place and when it came time to put the guide pin in I couldn't get it through enough to put the cotter pin in. I posted my problem on the board and was told to make sure they were the right pads. I went to Autozone and bought new pads and these were considerably less thick. eEuroparts had the wrong pads packaged in the right box. I had to use a hacksaw to cut the pads in half to get them out of the calipers. I was pissed because I wasted almost two days trying to figure out the problem especially when I was reassured that I had the right part. The lesson here is to go with your gut instinct and make sure you triple check your items from eEuroparts....
