Hacksaw blade won't hack it...

Maybe like a hacksaw blade, but not a hacksaw blade. Ever try and drill a hole in one of those things? They are seriously hardened steel, even the flexible back part of the blade, though the modern bi-metal ones (usually say something like "Flexible" on the blade) can be punched through without shattering - - set it right over a hole and strike with a punch, nail set or masonry nail. (I used to shorten blades to fit in an antique 8" hand-forged hacksaw.)
But it makes more sense to use some thicker mild steel strap or search on here to see tips on how to make one or do without - - bent-tip needle nose pliers as I recall is one idea. My car's an 89 and no experience with the earlier brake setup.
