The pump is driven from the crankshaft and the crank pulley is on the other side of the pump cover. It could be a combo failure of the pump, and pulley -- this requires some surgery. You will need to spend some time studying Bentleys and the Townsend site if you plan to do it yourself. The sockets you will need are not easy to find either. They need to be shallow so you can manuver them into the pulley to connect to the hex. The big crank pulley nut is tough to break loose, and you will need to cheat it out.
As our temps dropped below zero, I elected to have my dealer do this job for me which included resealing the oil pump, and a new seal for the crank pulley. It was $460 -- sounds like alot, but for that kind of job, it was fair to me. If you do it yourself, it is not an expensive repair -- $100 in parts depending on how much needs to be done.
See if you can watch the pulley while it is running for any movement. Careful, as you could get a facefull of broken belts! Also, limit the operation until you find out about the oil pressure, so have someone man the ignition switch while you watch the pulley for runout.
Make sure you take the time to examine the alternator attach points -- they are prone to failure and can cause havoc if you do all this work and not address them at the same time. Good luck!
