I like the dental floss approach. did you get all the way through it? See if you have a plastic spatula in the kitchen, one that is cheap and has a very thin edge. force it in and move around, you should be able to pry it up and off that way. or try the dental floss thing and use something other than floss, maybe fishing tackle, the woven stuff not the clear type. just saw it through until you can remove the badge.
anywho, after it's all off this is how you remove the residue. get some of the goop type waterless hand cleaner. NOT the stuff with grit in it, only smooth stuff. The use a rough towel (like the red shop towels) and work the stuff in. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, work more in, repeat. You can use the plastic spatula from above to scrap (carefully!) the goo up. Repeat until all gone. It won't attack the paint, and you won't pass out while working the stuff either. AFTER you have gotten all of it off follow up with a carwash type of soap and warm water, repeat until it sparkles.
I've debagged a couple of my SAABs, less to mess around with when washing and waxing... but you can put the replacement ones back on if you want to look complete.
