Have you checked the battery voltage at the terminals when cold before starting? 12.6 volts is fully charged and I typically see 12.58 volts on my digital VOM. If the voltage is down in the 11's, I think you're not getting full charging.
The alternator output voltage should be approximately the same at the alternator(big cable to ground) as between the battery poles. If you see a 14+ voltage at the alternator and the 13.6 volts at the battery, you're losing voltage to resistance in the circuit
Possible causes: corrosion at grounds(rad crossmember, block/transcase, alternator frame to block), corrosion at cable connectors, corrosion in the first few inches of the battery cables. See what hapeens to the voltage readings when everything is shiny bright.
Have you checked the length of the alternator regulator brushes? 5mm is minimum.
Finally, synthetic oil makes it much easier for the starter to spin the engine when cold.
