So the question is; when you "pick up" on the cable are you jiggling one of the connections, or is there a break in the copper conductor within the cable that you are momentarily "fixing". The most common of these options is just loose and corroded connections so the first thing is to clean (get a battery terminal tool at any auto parts store) and then reconnect securely. If that don't work then remove the cable and do a continuity test while bending it. Notice that those Saab OEM cables are really pretty high quality stuff and if it was me I'd go get a good salvage one off a Saab. Generally they last 'forever'. Maybe yours is already not the original? (Is it blue?) Dont forget to restore the small pigtail connetion on the lower core support (under the radiator). Good luck.
