One strange thing I also noticed is what appears to be
positive" as in pushing pressure from the vac lines for the distributor. The tongue dont lie....LOL. There was a faint and breif amount of vaccum when rev'd, but little, and I do not recall seeing any kind of check valve in any of the vacuum lines. Is this one way valve in the larger line or smaller? I am sure that I have some major vacuum leaks, probably all over & everywhere. I know the engine makes vacuum as the heat control flap moves as does the recirc. door, but Know there are issues.
My guess is the car will need the following:
1. Vacuum advance unit
2. Hall Sensor - Is teh rebiuld as much as a nightmare as it looks?
3. AIC valve (I think it is seized)
4. All the smaller vacuum lines and alot of the larger. Teh Hose from teh AIC to TB colapses flat, so I may either replace or reinforce with a spring of some type.
I'm just trying to educate myself mostly, I have lots of experience with 8 V CIS, but not so much with the added electronics of the 16V 2.2LH system.
As far as how it feels, and what it does, the gauge shows about 3/4 normal boost, but I havent really been driving it, I need those cam oil T's & need to square that away before I start playing. I do know that teh APC selenoid does teh little clatter thing, so it is being energized at least. I need to go over all teh connections, clean them, and use dielectric grease to protect from future crud. You should have seen the Ignition module.... was so corroded, when you touched it the car quit. I'm sure alot of the electrical connections are this way.
I did notice that the inside of the intercooler plumbing is pretty nasty, oil.grime, etc. I'm going to take my time and enjoy this! THANKS for the great advice guys, will definately post results/followup/progress.
