Battery light just came on: can I drive it 75 miles?

While driving the last few miles into work this morning, the battery light came on. I read some of the posts here, and I'm assuming I need to replace the voltage regulator. The battery is brand new (2 months old), so I know it is not that.
During lunch, I went out and started the car. Upon initial turn of the key, the dashboard lights came on and the battery one was dim. After starting the car, the battery light stays on.
I need to drive 75 miles to make it home (yeah, a long commute). I am planning on driving with the sunlight, so I will not use the headlights. I will also turn off the ACC system, radio, and seat warmers. I will try not to brake too much to avoid the use of the brake lights.
What are the chances I will make it home without the battery dying?
Also, is replacing the VR as easy as swapping in the new one (after removing the alternator)?
