I'm getting a raspy intermittant bearing sound from the clutch area. Have to wait til the weekend to get the cover off and ID. Sound seems like the TO bearing and I feel it in the pedal, but it only makes the sound when engaged - not with pedal compression. From my experiences, the TO usually lets you know its shot by squealing with pressure. Any thoughts?
The other funny thing is that along with this comes a warm high idle (1700prm) with no CE light. I'd think NTC (tests ok) or vac leak (but no loping) but its a solid rpm with no fluctuation. Strange it didn't trip the CEL (light works).
Not to mention I'm still chasing the cold start (gotta be below 30 deg F) batt light. I'm thinking ground but haven't found it yet. Maybe related to the new high idle.
Anyway. Please advise on the TO bearing.
Thanks
burlyb
'90 SPG - it knows I'm looking to buy a tacoma, but hasn't figured out I'm replacing the VW, not it. It's been a part consumptive winter - water pump, alt, and now clutch. Bummer is that every clutch I've done has been a winter r&r.
