First to answer Wes. I paid 140.00 dollars for the car, thanks for asking. Personally I'm envious when others find a good deal. Which is less money than I've been able to find a panel kit for, or a set of wheels for, or even a decent pair of seats for my 86Turbo. Fortunately the key from my 88TC fits the ignition switch perfectly. I've taken another look at the car and its kind of a shame to strip a solid restoration project. Interestly though, after seeing the interior my wife suggests possibly fixing it as another daily driver. Of course she was looking at everything from the drivers side and didn't see the before mentioned passenger side rust. I took another look and everything is really sound and the only additional rust I found was under the battery tray area; noticeable under the car and badly eaten buy years of boiled acid. I'll try and start/drive it tomorrow weather permitting. I'll also try and post some pictures of it. I looked at Gordon Berry's link and it sure tempts me to fix up the SPG. Does anyone recall who did their own repaint and had numerous, good, photos of their process? The car was red, uncertain of the year. Inga possiby? It was a very motivational site! Am I being dumb for robbing a SPG to maintain and give a little newness to a regular Turbo?
I'm just hesitant pulling my computer and putting it in the SPG to see if it will start, hate to disable Saabina especially if it burns up my computer. Without the computer in I've turned the key to the on position, I think the fuel pump is running a little loud. (I believe they have the wrong part relays at the passenger kick panel) Having the charger on after five minutes the starter did start to spin the motor but I didn't want to start it in the drive at night in case something unexpected happens. Is it true that the Saabs can run without a computer? The PO installed a manual switch to turn on the cooling fans and am cautious about what other thing may have been done.
I was in the chat room tonight trying to see if I could find some quick info on the fuel system. Cliff, I'm not Ted, are you a Guiness man, or somehthing? Funny conversation. While I'm rambling I saw my first perfect 900 dash in a salvage yard. (No not my new SPG, up till the weekend I believed it was a given with Saabs that the dashes came cracked) I hope to return for it Monday, if I don't I'll tell everyone where they can find it.
