Brian, Keep in mind that there is a transducer which cuts off the fuel pump circuit when it detects too much boost pressure and the LH brain will do the same when the rev's. exceed 6000 rpm. So with the wastegate hose disconnected you'll have boost into the red, but with those two restrictions. If she boosts into the red with the wastegate hose off then you have an APC system problem and not a duct problem. First thing to check is the big connector on the APC brain. Make sure that the knock detector is in good shape. They sometimes disintegrate. It must be bolted securly or it will shake. See that the knock detector wire is not in contact with something that vibrates or shakes. You can test the APC solenoid with a v-vac device while it's energized. Good luck.
