On my 84 900 Turbo, the boost guage rises and falls as I'm driving. This is not clearly because of acceleration and deceleration. If I drive at a steady speed with my foot motionless on the pedal, the boost wanders up then down, then up. If I just tap the accelerator a tiny bit, the boost tics up, however, momentarily.
I just spent $70 to dyno the car, and it shows that engine HP is indeed going up and down--it's not the gauge. Also, the idle wanders a bit the same way--if I let up on the gas with the clutch in, the engine RPM falls almost to stalling before bouncing back up to 1000 rpm. It's a bit worse when it's cold.
Any culprits come to mind as to the cause? I'm a C900 newbie.
