I used to own a 116 piece socket set. Then it got smaller, something around a hundred or so, never did figure out what happened. Then Sears had yet another sale. So the set got bigger, but then some escaped and I had fewer... But then Sears had ANOTHER sale, and so I got the bigger set. That way, I reasoned, I could lose some and yet still be covered. Unless I lost the same size(s) I had already lost, but hopefully it would be something like 11's or 9's or 18's or something else I really don't use too much. But THEN Sears had ANOTHER sale... and my wife took the car keys to all seven of the Saabs and I couldn't go... I was in toxic tool shock... all I could do for days was look for all of the missing soldiers, err tools, in my garage... I actually did find some of them.

Now she wants me to go to TA. No, not that TA, the other one...
Tools Anonymous. It's where you go and tell everyone that yes, I am a tool addict. I have many tool sets and yet each one is incomplete, so I feel the need to buy more in the hopes of completing them and in the process myself too. It's not so bad. Afterwards we all look at the Sears tool inserts from the Sunday Paper and drink Mountain Dew or Coke. Yes the real Coke, red can, all the sugar and caffenine you can want.

But then I have to go to the SA meeting. You know, Saabs Anonymous. We have to talk about how many times we have fixed the same thing on the same car - only to have it break again, how many times we have broken down at the worst possible time or place, how many shirts and pants we have ruined working on the Almighty Saab - usually during one of the above breakdowns, how many times we have been to urgent care for various injuries from working on the Saab, how many times we go to the junkyard each week just to see if a Saab is there... This is the hard meeting. We discuss how many Saabs we have owned, where they are now, and if they are being taken care of properly (usually not up to our personal standards!), or (shudder!) if they have been sent to the great Sweden in the Sky, Saab Heaven. This one usually ends with alot of sad owners saying things like "I wish I still had the old XX (insert the numbers of your choice)", or "they just don't make them like they used to", and "it used to be you could fix them with just a few bits of wire and a couple of washers...". Oh, I don't look forward to these meetings at all. But I go. Because my wife says if I do, and we sell at least four of the seven running Saabs we have, and I get rid of at least one of the parts cars, she *might* let me purchase another Saab... Not a car, but a SAAB! Woo Hoo!

Someone else said it, and my wife knows it only too well... A good day for her is when she comes home and there isn't a strange Saab C900 or 9000 in the driveway, with me under the hood...
