yup just a question, after you replaced the hose the power steering fluid did not leak anymore.
what im getting at is a bad pump in some cases wont make noise but it will give the result of a non working power steering, becouse well the pump dont work. however if you install the new rack seeing how you got it anyway let us know how it works out. i can under stand if you use a sludge hammer to losen the old rack and you miss the arm and hit the car the airbag might tend to think you been in a crash and be all like dang maby i should go off, anyhow thats a nice price fr the rack.
here something you can do, take a gander and look under your car. right behind the passenger side front wheel look at the muffler right infront of the cadillac converter, look to see if there is a burnt tar looking substance on it, if so it further indecates the pump, however i am taking in the account you had a bad hose, so here the last thing to do,
make sure the car is not hot
pop the hood and look at the pump (passengerside right under and behind the exsaust manifold)there is a hose that runs out the bottom of the pump
im thinking this is the hose you replaced. now with your hand reach down into the motor and grab the hose (feel the hose) feeling to see if it is wet from power steering fluid, if it turns out to me some (like putting your fingers in a glass of water, yeah wet) its a pump.
but if its dry wheew thats all i got to say.
