bdorgle, You should consider having a Saab tech. do that job (ind'y, not at a dealership though $$$). Going with the low bidder could cost you alot in the long run. Consider for instance that the shift control linkage must be carefully adjusted after the new unit is in or its planetary geartrain will be destroyed in short order. This (like many other things) is somewhat peculiar to the C900 Saab and a weekend mechanic with a Bentley manual would be unlikely to know it. There's just a lot of potential for a non-Saab mechanic to get something wrong and you don't want to have to replace your T-37 automatic twice. Find a good Saab independant shop for the job (and don't let them forget to flush the tranny cooler real well). I don't remember the "book" time on T-37 replacement but it usually takes me about 6-8 hours. So that could be anywhere from $500 to $1000 depending where you are and who you're paying (labor only). Good luck.
