Well, I wouldn't overlook the possibility of just bad/old gasoline; you might have gotten a bad batch or it just aged out over the winter. You could siphon out most of it and fill it up with premium gas and try again.
OTOH, if it runs ok when warm, it could just be a sensor that compensates for cold engine...bad sensor would mean poor operation during warmup. Point is that injection is NOT blocked if it works when warm.
Bad news...if automatic trans doesn't work well when cold they're generally on the way out...on the way toward needing a new transmission. A 92 turbo in good shape might be worth a new trans but I would just make sure it was warmed up before standing on it. You might try having the trans flushed and new type F fluid installed. don't forget the differential uses gear oil...chances are neither it nor the trans have been flushed and still have OEM fluid in them.
