Do front springs ever stretch or stiffen?

Thanks for the advice, bj & Saana88. I should have thought for 5 minutes before posting. There's pretty much no way you could bend anything badly enough to raise both sides of the front by 1 inch without pretty much destroying the front end of the car. Plus, my wife said it was that way before the incident with the ditch. That impact appears limited to the bumper and a little indentation on one side of the skid plate. Maybe this weekend I'll have the bumper off and see if I can straighten it. Anyway...

The ride height question: The space between the wheel and the arch is a function of the mounts of the control arms, the shape of the arms, the upper spring seat, and the spring strength. The arms are not bent, and for the mounts or spring seats to move by 1" would require catastrophic force. So it seems like my springs have stretched or stiffened. I suppose it could be that the rear springs are sagging, and I know that's a typical wear issue on these cars when they get old, but the back end looks normal to me. In back it's about 2.5 inches from the top of the tire to the arch, just eyeballing it against a ruler. In front it's about 3.5 inches, which doesn't look right to me. Thus the question in my subject line. BTW, shocks are fine.
