KB, The symptom you describe is most commonly caused by a worn out inner driver and/or tripod bearing (which goes inside of the inner driver). If your inner driver is good and just the tripod bearing is shot then it's perfectly OK to just replace the tripod bearing, but this is rarely the case. I'd advise against replacing the outer CV unless it is damaged and symptomatic. Rebuilt axles, which typically include the outer CV, axle shaft (which is not damaged by normal use) and a new tripod bearing have a high level of unreliability. See some the posts on that topic on this board just in the last 2 months (also I've seen some bad ones myself lately. 5000 miles and they were trash!). I suggest that you pull out your axle and stick a finger into the inner driver and feel the 6 drive and coast thrust surfaces. If they have significant "dents" where the tripod bearing resides then you should get a new inner driver (aka. companion flange), a new tripod bearing and an OEM inner CV boot kit. If the inner driver has no "dents" then you can run it and just replace the boot and tripod bearing. If the shell feels loose from the body there is still an o'ring in there to keep the grease in. So that is the simplist thing that you can do to fix the problem. If your inner driver is good you could still pull the inner driver out and replace the axle bearing, seal and housing o'ring if you wanted to and it's a good idea if that hasn't been done lately or appears to be leaking. It would bee silly not to open the outer CV boot and re-grease it while it's on the bench. You may also decide to replace that boot if it's looking crusty or has any splits, but avoid the urge to replace a good working outer CV (and a good axle shaft). Fresh grease works miracles on them. A broken motor mount won't 'cause' a bad inner driver/tripod bearing. Probably just a coincidence. Splits in the boot with the resultant loss of and contamination of the grease are the main cause of worn out inner driver/tripod units. This is sometimes worsened on the right side due to the heat from the exhaust, especially on non-turbo C900s.
