I recently replaced the front end of my 88' Saab Turbo 16V 2.0L (power steering pump, power steering hoses, and rack & pinion). It ran great and cranked right up prior to me making these repairs, but now whenever I turn the key, the engine will turn over but will rarely ever crank up. In the rare event that it does crank up, it doesn't run well at all. For the car to move you have to push the pedal nearly to the floor, and it moves very slowly, idling very erratically. When we were making the repairs we had the car jacked up on the front end, and the back end was on the ground (i'm not sure if that's relevant or not). The person helping me make the repairs also cleaned the bottom of the engine (I'm not sure what liquid he used but I'm pretty sure it was nothing harmful because he has mechanical experience). Could that have some effect? Can anyone make any suggestions to what might be wrong? It seems like it could be so many little things. We've replaced the fuel filter to no avail. In all likelihood it's something small we knocked out of place, etc. when we were doing the front end. Any suggestions welcome.
