With that many miles, are you going to refurbish those older turbo parts? Dropping such a high milage head and the turbo itself into your car might prove to be a negative gain if nothing is done to them by way of rebuild. Especially if you're shooting for those HP gains. Those components were just not made for that performance. I drove an 82 900T engine to death, so I know what can happen, and I didn't even abuse it. The previous owner abused the car severely, and I did a lot of work to bring it back to life and then some. I added a stock intercooler, a modified vacuum advance unit (to increase retard under boost), plus a boost assisted fuel warm-up regulator. Maybe all told it gave me 20 HP over the stock 135. But when the turbo began to die (all I heard was some metallic noise from time to time that I never figured out), one of the engine oil channels became blocked (probably from some metal introduced to the oil system via the dead turbo unit) and piston #3 overheated, dried up and siezed while driving up a hill. It happens fast is my point. A year before then I replaced the head gasket without doing any head work, so all told I was dealing with a very aged engine. A high milage tranny replacement also died on me and happened fast, so I know what happens when the miles add up.
