Opinion please - Dead, 1980 900T 5 Door (long)

This is a hard subject for me as this car was my first car.
I was given a 1980 900 T 5-door in high school. (from Dad) I drove it for a few years and had a little work done here and there but it has/had a cracked head that was fixed with radiator seal. One day it just wouldn't start anymore and my Dad didn't want to put anymore money into this car. The body is in real great shape but it wasn't stored properly. It was just put up on jack stands and left for dead. I had always wanted to get it fixed but "life" happened and I never got back to it. It has been sitting for about 17 years now. I've asked a few people about fixing it and they thought it would take about $2K - $3K to fix, if parts were avail.
I have purchased a 1986 900S that I am slowly making into my daily driver but just wanted to know your opion on the 80. Save for parts?
Keep in mind it has the old 8-valve "B" motor and the awful 390 metric rims that you can't get tires for.
Also more "life" is happening for me as my wife and I are trying to have our first child so money is tight.
Well enough rambling I think you get the idea.
