Re: 92 900 - Timing WAY off Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: 92 900 - Timing WAY off, SWEDECAR ![]() ![]() |
I double checked the spark plug wires to be sure everything was installed correctly, and that I'd selected Cylinder #1. I checked timing using all three other cylinders, none of them caused TDC to pop up....
I (for grins) moved the #1 plug 90 degrees on the distributor just to see if anything changed - of course it wouldn't start. I put it back. :)
I cannot find a real Saab part number on the flywheel. The only numbers are 750519 5032, written exactly like that. I don't see a similar number anywhere in the EPC.
If I rev the engine to ~4000rpm, the 0 degrees mark on the flywheel is lined up with the mark on the clutch cover.
I need to get this resolved, even if it means replacing the flywheel, as I can never pass California emissions with a car that's timing can't be checked... Stupid California!! I don't know which way a 9000 flywheel is off, but if a 9000 flywheel is 30 degrees off BTDC, that may be the answer... I could imagine at 4000 rpm timing would be advanced to about 30 degrees BTDC, which would be 0 degrees on a 9000 flywheel.
Any other thoughts? Thanks for your help...
