Phil, How far do you drive to work? Were the headlights on during the drive? The fact that the car "Started right up" after you arrived at work and turned it off suggests that the battery is charging and holding a charge IF the distance is significant. In that case you can be pretty sure that the problem is a defect with the ignition switch or a bad connection at the switch or starter motor and not a battery or charging system problem. If it is only a short hop then the battery could just be chemically recharging overnight and lasting through the short drive. You would know about that if your headlights were on during the drive because you would probably see them get dim at idle. The red "battery" light on the dash would light up too.
The ignition switch in the C900 is kind of problematic and often causes these intermittant conditions. Could also be the starter solenoid but in C900s these are remarkably reliable and located on the starter under the intake manifold (not the exhaust manifold). Cheers.
