Several things... Posted by Jonathan Scupin [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Coolant spewing out and VERY high temps!!, Tim McCormick, Wed, 31 May 2006 20:18:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I definitely recommend using 50/50 water/coolant, as one of the jobs of the coolant/antifreeze is to lower the boiling point of water.
How old is your radiator? Turbo or non? What year car, and how many miles?
Does your temp gauge work? What does it do on the highway? Is your fan working? Do you think the engine has overheated(driven with the temp gauge pegged hot)?? Is there ever any smoke from the tailpipe?
One more quick check for you: After driving, allow the engine to cool overnight. The next morning open the coolant resovoir cap. Was there still significant pressure? If so, you likely have a leaking headgasket or worse yet, a cracked head. Ask me how I know!
We'll get this figured out!
Take care,
Jonathan
