Push that button hard, right in the center, and if it's what should be there, the center will depress, then keep pushing and it drops down inside. That is the pin, very snug fit and pushed in flush and same finish matte black plastic as the outer part of the fastener. The seam almost disappears. With it out of the way the pressure out on the fingers of the fastener is gone, and it and the cover pry right off. Then find the pin and when you reassemble it goes back where it was.
Someone might have replaced the original with some other type of fastener. If so try prying under its head, with screwdriver or an "upholstery tool" like a bent forked screwdriver. Or drill the head off it. Then replace with whatever you like. Various similar fasteners available at auto parts stores.
Or if it IS the pin type and you lose the pin, you can replace the pin in the original fastener with a sheet metal screw that just starts to thread, not too fat.
