Fing, You may want to drop the front pan and see if the cable has come "off the track" of the throttle valve actuating cam or is otherwise tangled up. It's a long shot but if you have to install a new cable you'll have to drop the front pan anyway. You'll also have to drop off the filter so you might want to put on a new one while you are in there. Get a new gasket and about 1-1.5 gallons of type F atf. I used to smear those gaskets with Permatex #2 sealer as sort of a belt and suspenders approach as they were hard to seal up well. To adjust the (new) cable: (With the pan and filter still off) attach the cable to the tranny and throttle valve cam and hold it out straight. Draw out the cable until you feel the cam start to move (that is; pull out the slack). Slide the little sleeve to the end of the cable housing and crimp it at that point. Connect the cable to the throttle plate cam and adjust it so that with the gas pedal fully depressed the throttle valve cam has it's highest lobe fully pressing the throttle valve. Now put on the filter, seal her up and pour in the ATF. Cheers.
