unless you intend to put it in a museum. If you drive it you're going to get nicks, chips and dings, period. It's as futile as trying to find the fountain of youth. You can spend a lot of time, money, and energy chasing your tale on this and still not change a thing. I painted the hood on my '93 TC when I got it three years ago and in spite of only driving it about 4K a year(summers only), and being careful not to talegate, I still have about 5 or 6 large chips on the hood alone. Paint is perishable, it's really not worth wringing your hands over it.
