first you need to run a 13-pin DIN cable from the CD player (in-dash) to the changer in the trunk. The changer must be a C-Bus compatible unit (Clarion CDC or RDC models.) Even though the in-dash unit will not play single CDs, it can still control the changer. That's how I use mine.
The CDC/RDC changers are surprisingly small, but will not fit in the glovebox or in the front console. But if you have a manual passenger seat it might fit under there. Otherwise it's in the trunk. These C-Bus cables and changers are on ebay a lot. keep your eyes open and they can be had, with the cable, for way less than 100.
