1990 Turbo
5 speed
Cali Car
Ok, went to check the level on my transmission fluid and I pulled a black cap under the exhaust manifold. It's just sitting there with no means to secure it in place. I read in the Bentley that cars before 90 should have a tube and after they took it out. There's a '+' symbol on the cap with the short dipstick attached, but with no way to 'screw' it back in or snap it in place. Am I missing something?? I see no threads on the hole where the cap sits, but, I could have missed them. (I slept with my contacts in last night and can't see real well, atm. :p )
A local shop said I had a tranny leak, but I'd bet my last dollar that it's just leaking out this unsecured cap.
As an aside, I found and fixed a new rattle at high rpm's, I thought it might be my heat shield over the cat, but it turns out it was the hanger in front of the cat being loose, as well as the bolts holding the cat to the pipe in front of it. Car sounds alot different now! heh!
