All the other gears work fine, except third which if I don't hod in gear it will pop out under a load. 4th has a sweet spot, if I hold it just right it will engage- but there is no way to hold it that precise under anything other than light accelleration. It feels like linkage problem- But I've never even seen how the linkage works in A 5 speed. I have heard about nylon bushings and rubber pieces in the shifter- any more info on what its supposed to look like? Can you purchase a "rebuild kit" for the shifting mechanism? I found a receipt in the glove box that says a "used gearbox" was installed about 10,000 ago, but that was in 1997 and the last the car was registered was 02. Thanks much for helping me, I am proud to be in the SAAB family.
