Don't remove knee bolster, can see it all.

Pulling the lower dash/knee bolster won't show you anything of meaning and it's a lot of work, especially if your car has a center console.
Just put a piece of cardboard down on the ground next to the driver's door, or a small rug, and open the door all the way and sit down. You should be at about eye level with the clutch master cylinder and the nuts that hold it to the flywheel, and with the clevis where it attaches the push rod to the clutch pedal shaft. Have a flashlight handy but you can do it even without looking if you know what's there.
Pry the mouth of the little spring clip on the end of the clevis pin open just a bit and push the clip sideways and it will come off the pin; can do with bare fingers but a medium screwdriver might be easier. Unscrew each of the two 13 mm nuts that hold the cylinder to the firewall. They're aircraft-type, with a nylon insert, so need a wrench all the way off. Sometimes the threaded stud comes out of the master cylinder instead.
But it's better to start on the other side first - - squeeze the spring clip on the hose down from the reservoir with a small pair of vise grips and slide it down an inch or so, then work hose off spigot out of reservoir and put a cut-down coffee cup there to catch the little fluid that comes out; it won't drain the brake supply, only a side compartment.
Loosen the fat sheet metal screw for the clip that holds the metal line leading to the slave to the inner wheel well, so the line is free to move.
Then at least crack loose the flare nut holding that line to the master cylinder. Space is tight and it's no fun. A flare nut wrench, or some have suggested a crow's foot flare nut wrench, is called for.
