Just had to do this on a 2.1L. Wouldn't budge with 22mm box wrench when working from below even after applying PBlaster and heat. So removed header pipe and clamped in vise to make it easier to work on and avoid damage to pipe. Bought a 6-point 22mm Craftsman socket. Used an abrasive cutoff wheel to cut through shell of old sender to accept short socket. Then broke off sender top by twisting ceramic internal insulator. Then used 1/2-inch drive breaker bar with C-clamp to prevent rounding sender flats to force it loose with one hand on cheater and other on header pipe. Put new sender (Bosch 13913 spliced to old sender wire harness) back in with high temp. sender-safe copper anti-seize. What a Pain on non-turbos!
